Timmins Fitness Alternatives Presents
Bridging the Gap in Access to Urban Play, Sport and Fitness Options in Rural Communities.
Pop Up Playground travels over 800,000 km across Northwestern Ontario, Northeastern Ontario, and Western James Bay, bringing Ninja Warrior, Parkour, Aerial Arts, and Loose Parts Adventure Playgrounds directly to rural communities. Timmins Fitness Alternatives has spent over 8 years bringing rural community, big city opportunity.
Each community stop is a 3-day event hosted at a local community centre, with a goal of offering some sponsored free and accessible play, sport, and fitness programming for all ages — from babies and toddlers to teens, young adults, and families.
Our mission is to create community gathering, support mental and physical health, and promote the various benefits of play — making a difference in communities where these urban fitness opportunities wouldn't otherwise be available.
Ninja Warrior rigs, parkour courses, aerial arts, jump pits, fitness breaks, challenge zones, games breaks and so much more to get kids moving — building strength, coordination, balance and cardiovascular fitness through play.
Play reduces stress, builds resilience, and boosts confidence. Our loose parts explorative opportunities offer children an engaging environment to explore, build, and learn, fostering imagination, problem-solving, and social skills.
Three days of community gathering in each stop brings families, friends, and neighbours together — strengthening rural community bonds through shared experiences. Most of our Pop Ups are strategically designed to accommodate all ages at once so that all can be part of the social celebration of fun.
Youth learn ninja warrior techniques, parkour fundamentals, injury prevention techniques, and creative problem-solving — transferable skills that build courage and body awareness and that can continue to be safely explored in their nature-based outdoors play (ex. Parkour in the Parks).
By bringing urban fitness options to rural communities, we inspire lifelong healthy habits and show that fitness can be fun, creative, and accessible to everyone.
Partnerships with Empowered Kids Ontario, Autism Ontario, Hands the Family Help Network, EarlyON, First Nations, Francophone and other local organizations to provide sponsored, free sessions in each community to limit barriers to access.
Inclusive for everyone in the community, access to our Ninja Warrior rigs, Aerial Arts & Swing areas, Mobile Jump Pits, Parkour playground, Loose Parts Exploration zones and so much more.
